EEM Conference

 Krakow, Poland, 28-30 May, 2014

The International Conference on the European Energy Market (EEM) deals with energy markets and operation of power systems in the competitive environment. In this venue Scanergy researchers presented in an oral presentation the NRGcoin concept and received valuable feedback from the audience. The lesson learned from this talk is that we should take great care explaining the novel currency concept (i.e. decentralized currency with no single issuer), as it differs greatly from the traditional financial concepts (i.e. a currency regulated by a central bank). The NRGcoin concept is detailed in the following paper, published in the proceedings of the EEM conference:

M. Mihaylov, S. Jurado, N. Avellana, K. Van Moffaert, I. Magrans de Abril and A. Nowé, “NRGcoin: Virtual Currency for Trading of Renewable Energy in Smart Grids,” in Proc. of the 11th International Conference on the European Energy Market (EEM), Krakow, Poland, 2014.
